The Memory Exchange Station is an interactive installation that was developed to explore a new way of spontaneous sharing and learning through the exchange of memories. The experience is built on TouchDesigner and guides participants through an experience where they share a memory and then receive a memory from a previous participant of the experience.
I built the Memory Exchange Station with two ideas in mind.
One is a belief I have that there are infinite things you can learn from others and sharing things like stories, ideas, thoughts, etc. (no matter how small) could potentially have a larger than intended impact on another person.
The other idea was wanting to provide a “space” where people could have an encounter with someone they might potentially never have interacted with in-person.
These are a few of the screens that were designed for the experience.
The first iteration of the installation was setup in a gallery and over 50 “memories” were recorded and shared.
